William signed a lease for Park House Farm After his brother Allan left to go to Plattwood in Jan 1886 so he must have still been working for CRB Legh Adlington at this time. As his gravestone states that he worked for Davenports for 26 years , he must have left Adlington for Capesthorne in 1888.

In May 2005 Trip:- Met Bill Venables whipper snipping Siddington Churchyard.He is a successful retired farmer ( Mercedes!) He showed us aroud the church & graves & mentioned that William Carswells son Arthur was also Agent for the Davenports at Capesthorne put in a good word for him when he was looking for a farm to rent on the estate many years ago!.
Siddington ChurchYard gravestone.:- To the memory of William Carswell agent for 26 years to Colonel Bromley Davenport intered to rest 21 March 1914 also Bertha beloved wife of above died 24th Sept 1961 aged 98 years also Margorie , beloved daughter of above died 24th November 1969 aged 79 years . Do all for the Glory of God.
Inside Siddington Church there is a large stained glass window dedicated to the memory of William Carswell with the following inscription :-" To the Glory of God and to the memory of William Carswell of Capesthorne , this window was fitted with stained glass in the year 1914 by friends who held him in esteem & admiration."
Also found in Siddington Churchyard a gravestone :- In loving memory of John George Elstob 38 years Vicar of this Parish . Entered into rest Oct 6th 1926. ALSO His second wife Mary Agnes Elstob born Carswell B. 4th Dec 1870. D.17th August 1972 A good woman.
(First wife) Frances Alice wife of Rev Cannon Elstob Vicar of this Parish died June 30 1912 also their second son Capt Eric B Elstob OBE RN born 2 August 1851 died May 1st 1949.
