- I looked in Rootsweb Freecens site. 1841 Neilston is there.
At Low Bogside there is John Stevenson 55, farmer, Jean, 45, John 25,Jean 20, Janet, 15,James 14, Agnes 10 and David 7. Don't know where Margaret could have been, maybe she was the first to head to Cheshire???Source Johan. Lochridge.
1851 Census shows John 65( farmer of 20 acres also road labourer) & Jean 54 living at Crofthead with children James 23, Agnes19 & David 16.
1851 Census shows Allan Carswell (Visitor) age 6 living with family. I think that Allan is the son of John Carswell (son of Allan Carswell & Jean Stevenson) & Margaret Stevenson of Neilstonside.
I visited Scotland's People as there are now marriages to view: Robert Carswell, age 49, grocer, single, Main Street, Barrhead, married Agnes Stevenson, age 35,domestic servant, single, Are you ready for this? daughter of John Stevenson and Jean Wark (Dec'd) of Carnock Chase, Staffordshire!!!!!!!!!!!!. William Scott and Jane McKay (I wonder if she is ours too) were witnesses. Source Johan.
