Further information on John Carswell, Farmer of Chase Terrace.
His daughter Agnes was married to John Brown, 30, Warehouseman of Denniston St. John, Glasgow on 24th April, 1888 at St. Annes, Chasetown. John and his wife Margaret were witnesses.
John Carswell is listed in the Local Trade Directory as a Farmer up until 1921 but does not appear in the 1936 edition. In view of his age in 1881 (56) I suspect that the farm passed to John Jnr. who was 28 in 1888 and that it is he who is farming up to 1921.
