- Ham Curer of Barrhead , son of Allan Stevenson of Old Barn
Sheila M.S.McCorkindale b.1924, married Neil White.
My mother Margt.S.Dunlop, b.1890 Islay, lived there for 22 years, then Canada Alberta for 11years farming and the last 60 years in the Glasgow area.
Her mother Margt. Stevenson b.Islay at Laggan to Hugh Stevenson and Eliz.Stewart both of Neilston, died in 1919 in Alberta Canada.
My mother missed her busy farming life and sisters when she settled in the city and that is probably why she talked so much of life in Islay and in Canada where I had more than twenty cousins.
There was no chat about theCarswells or Loch Lomond but I discovered today the name Maggie Carswell who married Wyper written below another photograph in the old album.
Is this of interest to you too?
Mother had close contact with David Stevenson and family, the Bacon Curers in Barrhead. In fact she was married from their home in 1923 when she returned from Canada.
John McKay may well have stayed at Laggan Farm when he visited Islay because my grandfather J.Dunlop had a passion for horses and the revenue from his wife's inheritance may have been spent buying more.
I think I have been raking up family histories now for over 20 years using Register Office Edinburgh before the day of the computer. We have only been using one for two years so I am not very competent yet but I live in hope!
I will post off the two/three old photos on Monday. Please do not copy them for me.I am trying to offload as much as possible and only too pleased to find a home for them. My family are not really interested
My address is 22 Cauldstream Place, Milngavie G62 7NL
Enough for tonight. I will enjoy the will .
Regards Sheila
P.S I don't think I wish to see another will thankyou.
