- Hugh S and Margaret C's daughter Jean S was married to Allan Stewart (Greenhill in 1861)
Allan Stewart had previously been married to Janet Mitchell, sister of Margaret M married to our William C
(I googled Allan Stewart, and found a Lanark List message from Cliff Jones whom I have prev corresponded with) Found the following:
They had a son John Stewart b 1849. He married Mary Bryson, they had 7 children. After John Stewart died in 1889, Mary Bryson married Samuel Hay. samuel hay had previously been married to mary hamilton and one of their sons (not confirmed, but probable) was David Hay who eventually married Mary Keith, my grandfather's sister.
How about that then, we are certainly "all Jock Tamson's bairns". i think you have heard that expression before..
