Dear Johan,
These are the only two photographs I have of my great grandmother Margaret Stevenson, and I’m lucky to have these! They were copied by me from the originals which are probably now with one of my cousins. I don’t believe there are any other photographs in existence.
One shows Margaret Stevenson with her daughters Martha (standing) and Ann (on the right, seated) in the garden of their house in Dalry. I guess that the picture was taken around 1900. I just about remember Martha, although not Ann, who became blind. Neither of them married.
The other one I estimated was taken at Drakemyre in Dalry around 1881. Margaret Stevenson is third from the left. On her left is my great grandfather and next to him is Robert. All I know about Robert is that he never married and was certified latterly, although whether the two events were connected I don’t know!
To prevent overloading of memory, I’m sending some other photographs separately.
Bill
I had a pleasant meeting with Bill Barr, no new information, but I think I have found a couple of Stevenson girls in 1881 census.
Margaret S, b 1830 Lochwinnoch, daughter of William S and Anne Ferguson. I think she married John Barr, and they are at Drakemyre in Dalry in 1881.
And more interestingly, Janet b 1823 of William and Anne above, married William Weir (I think) and they were at Parkhouse Farm in 1881! Johan.
